Expanded features and functionality, color-changing performance pads, integrated DJM-style mixer, dual USB ports, and a MAGVEL cross fader all bring the DDJ-SZ to a whole new level.

The CDJ-style JOG wheels provide lightning fast response and excellent operability for accurate and smooth scratching and mixing performance. The center of each JOG wheel also features "ON JOG display" to illustrate playback status, cue points and position. To make sure everything works just how you like it, utilize the JOG FEELING ADJUST in order to change the resistance of the jog wheels for ultimate comfortability.

Directly below each JOG wheel are four effects buttons: HOT CUE, ROLL, SLICER and SAMPLER. Beneath the effect buttons are 8 performance pads that DJs can quickly access to apply effects to the music in real time. In Sampler mode, the output volume of the sampler effects is velocity sensitive, meaning it changes depending on how hard the user hits the pad. Similar to the DDJ-SX2 and other newer Pioneer controllers, the performance pads on the DDJ-SZ illuminate in different colors to indicate which effect mode is currently active.

Transitioning between two DJs and/or adding additional music sources has never been easier thanks to the two USB ports included on the SZ, allowing simultaneous connection between two computers.

The mixing area of the DDJ-SZ also closely mimics Pioneer's DJM series of professional mixers, offering a wide array of controls and effects with features including Sound Color FX and new Oscillator functions to allow for more innovative musical arrangements. Outboard players and turntables can also be used with the SZ, as the mixer section can function as a standalone 4-channel mixer.

Oscillator – The new Oscillator on the right side of the mixer provides four types of sound effects: Noise, Siren, Cymbal and Horn. These effects can be activated at the touch of a button and are easily volume-adjustable.

Sound Color FX – The mixer includes four Sound Color FX functions (Pitch, Jet, Echo and Filter), giving you extensive effects to mix and match for a truly unique sound. Echoes can also be synchronized to the BPM of the music through Serato's BPM analysis software.

DVS Functionality – The controller can support DVS (Digital Vinyl System) using control tone to enable external players such as turntables and CDJs to be used as a Serato DJ deck.

To maximize durability and enable smoother transitions between the decks, the DDJ-SZ features a MAGVEL crossfader, utilizing a contact-free magnetic system than can stand up to the most rigorous cuts. Fans of Pioneer's DJM-900SRT will already be familiar with the MAGVEL fader, as an identical fader is used in both units. The "cut in" time of the fader is customizable to the user's preferences.
